Hanging your Hammock

Brazilian Hammocks

Always hold the hammock in place before you attach any fixings to test the distances

Two fixed points are necessary to hang your hammock

The ideal positions for these two points are:

Single Hammock

2.7m – 4.0m apart

1.6m high

Double & Queen Hammocks

3.0m – 4.2m apart

1.8m high

There should be a loose curve at least 30cm off the ground when you lie in your hammock

If the space between the two fixed points is too large for you to hang your hammock, you can use

spring clips, rope or chains to extend the length of the hammock.

Getting into your hammock

Stand at the centre of the hammock, take hold of each edge and gather the weave equally in each hand to find the centre.

Still holding the back edge of the hammock and some of the weave in your hand, sit down in the centre.

Lean back across the hammock  until supported from the head to the thighs, push remaining fabric out with your heels.

You should be lying crosswise or diagonally in the hammock to achieve maximum comfort.

Handling

When handling the hammock always hold it by the handles to avoid tangling. Never leave your hammock in the rain, as the fabric will deteriorate and the colours may run or fade.

When storing your hammock it is a good idea to twist the arms together to avoid tangling.

Washing

Tie each end strings together with pieces of cord. Machine wash in a regular cycke with cold water. Use non-bleach washing powder and a handful of salt. The hammock should be dried quickly in shade after washing, do not Tumble Dry. To dry hang the hammock in the position it is used and place a stick across it to open the fabric.

Warning

Always supervise children in the hammock
